All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or when you collect your vehicle. This agreement outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance information, charges, and your obligations related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement prevails.
Eligibility Criteria
Requirements for Vehicle Rental
- To hire a vehicle from Car Hire in Darwen, drivers must be a minimum of 21 years old. Age restrictions may vary depending on the vehicle type, with extra charges applicable for those under 25. A valid full driving licence, appropriate for the vehicle category, is required, along with identification and proof of address. Payment details and a security deposit must also be provided. 3. Reservations and Payments

You remain liable for damage or loss up to the insurance excess, except where additional coverage applies. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice given. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited vehicle uses:
- The vehicle must not be used for illegal activities or purposes. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or any other dangerous maneuvers. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or allowing unauthorized drivers is not permitted. Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol is strictly forbidden. The vehicle should only be used as intended, adhering to passenger and weight limits. Driving beyond the pre-approved geographical boundaries requires prior consent.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Darwen will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount paid in the previous 12 months.
